We have a vision – a motto for Odense. It is “To play is to live”.
"To Play is to Live" has multiple meanings. For instance it is a reference to the city’s native son Hans Christian Andersen, of whom we are exceedingly proud. (He wrote “To travel is to live”.)
It is also a reference to the fact that Odense has 240 public playgrounds. But most important by “To play is to live”, we mean that we try - in all matters - to play, to experiment and to be innovative.
These days it means that – as a municipality - we are trying to rethink and modernise our welfare system, and that we seek greater involvements of our citizens.
